How to lose your employees.

  1. Promote them to a position with 150% of their current responsibilities and a 10% raise.
Now they have the leverage to look elsewhere with the upgraded job title. The mere 10% raise for 150% the responsibilities is a strong motivator.

  2. Spin off a startup out of an established business and make them work in it.
To some employees, startups are one of the worst environments to work in. Do not underestimate the difference—the needs of a startup are vastly different than those of an established business.

If you are not careful, you will demoralize your team, confuse your customers, and lose out on all ends.

  3. Expect them to act like founders when they just want to be employees.
